Webmail Troubleshooting

When I try to delete messages in your Webmail, I sometimes get an error message like this:

ERROR : Could not complete request.
Query: COPY 6:6 "INBOX.Trash"
Reason Given: [ALERT] COPY failed - no write permission or out of disk space.

The reason that you are experiencing this quota error is because you have used up your entire email quota. When you ask Webmail to delete a message, it goes (by default) to the Trash folder. But your Trash folder in Webmail takes up a part of your quota, so you can quickly use up your quota in this way! Use the following instructions to tell Webmail to stop using the Trash folder:

  1. Open Webmail and log in.
  2. Click on Options.
  3. Click on Folder Preferences
  4. In the Special Folder Options section, set Trash Folder to “Do Not Use Trash”.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. SIGN OUT of Webmail. The change WILL NOT take effect until the next time you log into Webmail.

Now sign back into Webmail, and you will be able to delete emails to your heart’s content! Do not forget to go into the Trash folder and delete the items in there as well!

NOTE: By setting Webmail in this way, you are removing the “safety net” of the Trash folder. You will no longer be able to retrieve a deleted message once it’s deleted.
